Steven Mann
Steven trained as an actor at Guildford School of Acting (1994–1997) on the musical theatre course. Whilst at GSA, he played Dino in The Rink, Hamish in The Mitford Girls, Spelvin in Strike Up The Band and The Beadle in Sweeney Todd.
Steven’s professional acting work includes The Butterfly Ball (Wimbledon Theatre), Palladium (Finborough Theatre), The Sound of Music (BAC [bac.org.uk]), The Frogs (Lost Musical at The Barbican), A Handful of Keys (Prince Edward), Anyone Can Whistle (Covent Garden Festival, Savoy Theatre) and most recently as John in a workshop of a new Scottish musical, Blud Red (Bedlam Theatre). Steven has also appeared in cabaret at various venues in Britain as well as a month on a P&O ferry.
In 1999, Steven decided to return to University to further his education and recently graduated from QMUC [qmuc.ac.uk], Edinburgh where he specialised in directing under the watchful eye of Maggie Kinloch and Iain Reekie. At college, Steven directed scenes from The Rink and Stars in The Morning Sky as well as being part of the directing team for A Midsummer’s Night Dream (The Byre Theatre and The Gateway Theatre) and Godspell (Gateway Theatre).
Since leaving college, Steven has directed West Side Story, Jesus Christ Superstar and Kiss Me Kate (for Pantheon at The King’s, Glasgow) Cirkus! (Byre Theatre) and The Gallery and Whispering Voices (both at Perth Theatre). He was also the Assistant Director on the critically acclaimed Shining Souls (The Tron Theatre [tron.co.uk]). In addition, Steve has worked with Scottish Youth Theatre, The St. Andrew’s Youth Theatre and Perth Youth Theatre.
