Sharon Taylor

Ethel in Footloose

Sharon has been involved in music from an early age, when she performed at school concerts. From there she went on to become the lead singer in an early-’80s pop band, supporting established acts such as the Buzzcocks and attracting major record company interest. She has also dabbled in: writing/performing jingles for radio advertising; managing two bands in the late ’90s; acting in a, slightly embarrassing, reconstruction for STV's Scottish Woman and writing comedy sketches with her husband Garry.

Her musical theatre debut at The King’s, Glasgow, with Theatre Guild in 1988, made her realise that this was much more rewarding than touring the country with heavy band equipment, and that was the end of her career as a budding pop star! Sharon has been an active member of Pantheon since 1992, when she joined the chorus of Cinderella and went on to play a variety of rôles, including Aladdin, Tzeitel in Fiddler on The Roof, Phyllis Dale in 42nd Street (having bluffed her way through the tap auditions), Beatrice in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and Mercedes in La Cage Aux Folles.
